Iyabo Ojo: “I’m a Landlady in Lekki and My Kids Have Succeeded – Single Mother Life Done Right!”

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has stirred conversations across social media after opening up about her journey as a single mother, her personal achievements, and the role of faith in her life.
The outspoken actress questioned long-held societal beliefs that define success mainly by marriage, arguing instead that true fulfillment comes from stability, peace of mind, and raising successful children. According to Eyes of Lagos, Iyabo Ojo shared these reflections during a recent public appearance.
Recounting her early years of single parenting, the actress described the experience as challenging and emotionally demanding. She spoke of moments of uncertainty, fatigue, and confusion while raising her children on her own at a young age. Despite these struggles, she said perseverance and trust in God helped her push through.
“There is confusion in their midst. I’m like the president-general of single mothers because my daughter has succeeded, my son has succeeded, and my life is better,” she said, expressing pride in her children’s achievements.
Iyabo Ojo also revealed that she never imagined she would one day own property in one of Lagos’ most exclusive areas. She attributed her success entirely to divine grace.
“If anyone told me I would become a landlady in Lekki, I would not have believed it. It wasn’t by my power, it was God,” she added.
Speaking further on relationships and family life, the actress stressed that both men and women make choices that shape their marital journeys. She encouraged people to place their trust in God rather than societal expectations, while also acknowledging the importance of personal responsibility.
She also praised men who play active roles in their children’s lives, describing responsible fatherhood as admirable and attractive in character.
Her remarks quickly drew varied reactions online. While many applauded her honesty, strength, and inspirational message, others felt her comments downplayed marriage as a measure of success. Some social media users viewed her statements as humorous and empowering, while critics questioned the tone and timing.
Regardless of the differing opinions, Iyabo Ojo’s comments have reignited public discussions around single motherhood, personal achievement, faith, and the changing definition of success in modern society.
