JAMB Reschedules 2024 UTME for 24,535 Candidates and Releases Additional 3,921 Results
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the rescheduling of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 24,535 candidates. This supplementary exam is set for Saturday, June 22, 2024, providing affected candidates additional preparation time, according to JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin.
Benjamin stated that the decision follows a detailed analysis of the 2024 UTME conducted at certain centers, revealing significant non-compliance with JAMB standards. Consequently, the 24,535 candidates will retake the exam in their chosen towns on the specified date. These candidates include those from the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS) and Kwara State University (KWASU) on the CAILS-KWASU Diploma programme.
Additionally, 20,550 candidates whose results were under investigation and 2,702 candidates whose fingerprints could not be verified will be given another chance to sit for the 2024 UTME. Another 322 candidates have been flagged for examination misconduct due to evidence that they did not appear for the exam themselves.
Furthermore, JAMB has released an additional 3,921 results, bringing the total number of results released to 1,883,350. Candidates can check their status by texting “RESULT” to 55019 or 66019 from June 1, 2024. Those who are rescheduled will receive a notification accordingly.
The rescheduled candidates are advised to print their supplementary examination notification slips from June 4, 2024, to confirm their exam centers.
In response to stakeholder requests, JAMB has extended the 2024 Direct Entry (DE) registration deadline to June 17, 2024, expanding registration points in several states to accommodate the increased number of prospective DE candidates. Registration points have been added in Lagos, Oyo, Kwara, and Osun states.
Lastly, JAMB will conduct a special registration exercise for the 3,633 candidates of the CAILS-KWASU Diploma who missed the 2024 UTME. The previously established criteria for DE registration remain unchanged.
