Jerome Nyameh, Former Taraba Gubernatorial Aspirant, Exits PDP After 25 Years
Jerome Nyameh has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) after a quarter-century of membership. In a letter dated July 18, addressed to the PDP chairman of Zing Local Government Area in Taraba State, Nyameh explained that his decision followed extensive consultations and concerns raised by his supporters across all 168 wards of the state.
“I hereby tender my immediate resignation as a member of the PDP, representing Zing AII Ward, Zing LGA, Taraba State,” the letter states.
Nyameh emphasized his long-standing loyalty to the party since 1999 but revealed that recent internal conflicts and unresolved divisions have made his continued affiliation untenable.
“Many supporters have expressed apprehension and urged me to step down amid the ongoing crisis and fragmentation within the party,” he explained.
Previously, Nyameh was a strong contender for the PDP gubernatorial ticket in the 2023 elections, ultimately finishing as the runner-up to Kefas Agbu, who won and currently serves as governor.
During the campaign, Nyameh advocated for party unity while emphasizing the importance of transparency and inclusiveness in the electoral process.
In his resignation letter, Nyameh reaffirmed his dedication to the development of Taraba State.
“My resolve to contribute to the progress of Taraba and Nigeria remains firm. The passion and vision I held while in the PDP will continue to inspire me in whatever path I pursue, by God’s grace,” he said.
As of now, Nyameh has not disclosed whether he plans to join another political party ahead of the 2027 elections or what his next political steps will be.
