Kwankwaso Open to Being Peter Obi’s Running Mate

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, has indicated his openness to serving as a running mate to Peter Obi of the Labour Party in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Kwankwaso mentioned that he would consider the position if specific conditions are met. In a recently circulated video, he emphasized the importance of establishing trust in any potential partnership.
He remarked, “I consider myself politically more significant than Peter Obi. I hold a PhD and had a notable tenure as governor.” He further stated, “I have no objections to being Peter Obi’s deputy, but this is contingent on certain agreements.”
Both Kwankwaso and Obi are recognized as influential figures in the opposition landscape. In the previous election, Obi garnered approximately 6.1 million votes, leading in 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory, while Kwankwaso achieved around 1.5 million votes, winning 38 of the 44 local government areas in Kano State.
