Lagos Security Operatives Nab Suspected Burglar, Recover Locally Made Gun in Ikorodu

Operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) have arrested a suspected burglar and recovered a locally fabricated firearm during a targeted operation in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The arrest was effected by officers attached to the agency’s Imota Command following credible intelligence from residents about unusual movements in the Araromi area, The Punch reported on Tuesday.
According to a statement published on the agency’s official social media platform and shared by local outlets, including Vanguard Newspapers, the operation took place in the early hours of Friday, March 13, 2026, after residents raised concerns about suspicious activities.
Acting swiftly on the information, operatives moved to the scene and apprehended Monday Enoch, a 25-year-old man, at about 4:22 a.m. during patrols in the area.
“The arrest followed a report of suspicious movements around the Araromi area of Imota on Friday, March 13, 2026… officers deployed to the area apprehended a 25-year-old suspect… at about 4:22 a.m.,” the agency statement read, as quoted in reports by Punch Newspapers.
During an interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to possessing two firearms and led the operatives to an uncompleted building in Agbowa.
Security personnel later recovered a locally made long gun hidden inside the structure in the Mosafejo area of Agbowa, the statement added.
Reacting to the arrest, the agency’s General Manager, Ifalade Oyekan, reaffirmed the LNSA’s commitment to working collaboratively with other law enforcement bodies across federal, state and local jurisdictions. The statement, carried by Nigerian news outlets including Vanguard, emphasised that stronger security partnerships remain crucial to tackling crime in Lagos.
“Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with other law enforcement agencies…,” the agency noted in its release.
The suspect, along with the recovered weapon, has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Imota Police Division for further investigation and possible prosecution, according to the report.
Officials indicated that efforts are ongoing to trace and recover the second firearm allegedly linked to the suspect and believed to have been taken from Ogun State.
Security operations like this have been increasingly highlighted in Nigerian media, with The Guardian Nigeria and Punch Newspapers regularly reporting on coordinated efforts by neighbourhood safety units and police to reduce crime and enhance public safety across Lagos State.
