In a remarkable display of unity and cooperation, the two leading political party candidates for Oriade Local Government in Osun State, Hon. Ajimati Oladeji Benedict of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Hon. Taiwo Adeyekun of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), appeared together on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, at Timsed 94.1FM Radio Station in Ijebu Ijesa.
The event, which ran from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, provided a platform for both candidates to share their respective visions for Oriade Local Government, as well as their past contributions to the great people of Oriade. Hon. Ajimati Oladeji Benedict, hailing from Ipetu Ijesa, and Hon. Taiwo Adeyekun, from Erin Oke, took the opportunity to highlight the work they’ve done so far and the positive impact they’ve had on the people of Oriade.
The discussion also featured the Councillorship candidates from both parties, underscoring the importance of broad political participation in shaping the future of the local government.
The event was particularly significant for the way it showcased the cordial relationship between the two Chairmanship candidates, despite their different party affiliations. The interaction demonstrated that political competition need not breed division or hostility. Both candidates emphasized that their shared goal is to improve the lives of the people of Oriade, and that working together is key to achieving this.
This programme, which brought together political figures from opposing parties, sent a strong message to the public: political rivalry should not overshadow the shared responsibility leaders have to their communities. It was an encouraging sign of how collaboration, rather than conflict, can drive progress and foster meaningful change.
By focusing on the welfare of their constituents, Hon. Benedict and Hon. Adeyekun showed that good governance transcends party lines. Their cooperation on this occasion was a powerful reminder of how political leaders, regardless of party differences, can work towards the same goal of community development.
