Man Arrested for Stabbing Girlfriend’s Brother Over Phone in Ogun State

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 35-year-old Dada Taiwo of No 34 Agbado Crossing for fatally stabbing his girlfriend’s elder brother, Damilola Momoh, during a dispute over a borrowed phone.

 

Olaife Momoh, the girlfriend of the accused and sister to the victim, reported the incident to the Agbado Division of the Nigeria Police around 2 pm on Sunday.

 

According to a statement from the state police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, the altercation occurred when Damilola Momoh confronted Taiwo about the phone he had borrowed. The argument escalated, and Taiwo allegedly used a bottle to stab Damilola in the neck, causing severe injuries and heavy bleeding.

 

Odutola provided an update on the incident, stating, “An assault resulting in harm has occurred. On July 21, at about 1400hrs, Olaife Momoh, residing at 11 Sowemimo Street, Akera, Agbado, Ogun State, reported that her boyfriend, Dada Taiwo, had a dispute with her elder brother, Damilola Momoh, over a borrowed phone. During the argument, the suspect, armed with a bottle, stabbed her brother in the neck, causing severe injuries and profuse bleeding.”

 

The victim was rushed to a hospital in Agbado for medical treatment. The suspect has been apprehended and is currently under interrogation at the police station. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.

 

SP Odutola also issued a warning about the dangers of uncontrolled anger, emphasizing that such actions can lead to severe legal consequences, including a death sentence. She advised young people to report any hurtful incidents to the nearest police station and to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
