The annual Aropeju Week of Ipetu Ijesa indigenes, both at home and abroad, was celebrated with great joy and togetherness. The Cultural Day, held on Thursday, October 30th, witnessed a massive turnout of people who came to honour and celebrate the town’s rich heritage. The event was filled with colourful displays of traditional attire, music, and dance performances that showcased the beauty of Ipetu Ijesa culture. The people attended in large numbers, expressing happiness and pride in their traditions. It was a memorable day that strengthened unity and reminded everyone of the importance of preserving their roots.

The King of Ipetu Ijesa Kingdom, Oba Dr. Barr. Agunbiade Samson Adeleke, the Ajalaye of Ipetu Ijesa, graced the occasion and spoke passionately about the value of culture and language. He noted that when a tribe begins to lose its language, it also starts to lose its identity. Barr. Oluwole also emphasized that culture plays a vital role in shaping the laws and traditions of the people. To make the event more lively, a quiz and debate competition were held to test participants’ knowledge about great men and women whose contributions have helped the growth and development of Ipetu Ijesa.

The celebration was well attended by dignitaries, including the chiefs of Ipetu Ijesa, representatives of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comr. Folly, Prof. Adedeji Adebayo, and Bolaji Oladeji. Guests were also treated to a variety of traditional Ipetu Ijesa delicacies such as Kango, Monmon, Abari, and others. The Cultural Day was truly a highlight of Aropeju Week, celebrating unity, joy, and the proud identity of the Ipetu Ijesa people.
