The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural association, has praised the administration of President Bola Tinubu for the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development.
During a press conference in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the National President of the Association, Abdullahi Bello-Bodejo, and the National Secretary, Saleh Alhassan, expressed their approval. Bello-Bodejo highlighted the group’s appreciation for the government’s acknowledgment of the essential role livestock farming plays in Nigeria’s economy, culture, and social structure.
“The establishment of this ministry marks a new chapter for millions of livestock farmers and pastoralists who have long needed a dedicated body to address their specific challenges and opportunities,” Bello-Bodejo stated. “This ministry will undoubtedly facilitate innovative solutions and policies to enhance the productivity, sustainability, and profitability of livestock farming in Nigeria.”
He further emphasized that the ministry is expected to create a supportive environment, introduce global best practices, and modern techniques that could transform the livestock sector. Bello-Bodejo highlighted the ministry’s potential contributions to food security, job creation, and rural development.
He expressed confidence that the new ministry would lead to significant progress and development, and he affirmed the association’s readiness to collaborate closely with the ministry to achieve its goals. “This has been the primary aim of our association since its inception, and we urge all state governors to establish similar ministries, following the example of Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State,” he added.
Bello-Bodejo also informed the public that members of the association nationwide would not participate in the planned protest scheduled for August 1, 2024.
Saleh Alhassan, the secretary of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, reiterated the group’s stance against participating in the protest. He acknowledged the frustrations and grievances of many Nigerians but emphasized the importance of peaceful dialogue and constructive engagement with authorities.
“Our decision is driven by our commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and unity within our nation,” Alhassan stated. He affirmed the association’s ongoing support for President Bola Tinubu’s initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security, and sustain
able development.
