Muhammed Babangida Accepts Role as Bank of Agriculture Chairman, Denies Turning It Down

Muhammed Babangida has affirmed his acceptance of the role of Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), extending heartfelt thanks to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence placed in him.
In a statement issued on Monday, Babangida categorically denied widespread online rumors alleging that he had declined the appointment. He labeled the reports as unfounded and intentionally misleading, aimed at misrepresenting both his position and the intentions of the current administration.
“We wish to make it unequivocally clear that Muhammed Babangida has wholeheartedly accepted the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, as announced by the federal government. He is deeply grateful to President Tinubu for this opportunity and the trust he has shown,” the statement said.
The statement went on to caution that individuals responsible for spreading these false narratives would be identified and held accountable for their actions.
“We also assure the public that steps are being taken to investigate the source of these fabrications. Upholding truth, promoting unity, and maintaining transparency remain our top priorities,” it continued.
Concluding the release, the public was urged to rely on verified and credible sources when consuming or sharing information.
Babangida’s appointment is one of several key leadership roles recently approved by President Tinubu as part of ongoing efforts to bolster governance and efficiency across federal institutions.
