Murder Confession: Reasons we killed our boss – Personal Assistant
By Dayo Johnson, Akure
The Personal Assistant (PA) to prominent Ondo State caterer and CEO Mrs. Debbie Olakunbi Adene has reportedly confessed to the murder of his employer, which occurred shortly after her birthday. According to police sources, the PA and the victim’s driver orchestrated the killing in order to steal money given to her during the birthday celebrations.
The PA, whose identity has not been disclosed, was apprehended by detectives a few weeks after Mrs. Adene was found dead in her home on Oda Road in Akure.
Mrs. Adene, who had recently celebrated her 54th birthday, was discovered deceased on her bed by neighbors who subsequently alerted the house caretaker. Earlier in the day, she had hosted guests at her home, serving a variety of drinks and posting photos of the event on social media.
Her husband, Dele Adene, had previously voiced frustration over the lack of progress in the investigation, expressing disbelief that arrests had not yet been made. He remarked, “I was informed that my wife was found dead in a pool of blood, indicating she had been brutally attacked. It’s hard to believe that no arrests have been made so far. I expected more action, especially given the severity of the crime and the fact that her phone could be tracked.”
A police detective confirmed to Vanguard that the PA has admitted to the crime and is cooperating with authorities by providing crucial information about the murder. It was also revealed that the driver, who is currently at large, supplied the weapon used in the attack.
Attempts to reach state police spokesperson Funmi Odunlami for further comment were unsuccessful. However, a police officer has confirmed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the case.
