The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspects in connection with the killing of three Cameroonian nationals in Anambra State. The tragic incident, which sparked concern among residents and members of the international community, is currently under active investigation.
According to police authorities, the suspects were apprehended following coordinated intelligence-led operations carried out across different locations within the state. Security operatives reportedly tracked the individuals after gathering credible information linking them to the crime scene.
The three victims, identified as Cameroonian citizens residing in Nigeria, were allegedly attacked under circumstances that are still being pieced together by investigators. While officials have not released full details regarding the motive, preliminary findings suggest the crime may have been premeditated.
A spokesperson for the command stated that law enforcement officers responded swiftly once the incident was reported. “We are committed to ensuring that justice is served. The suspects are currently in custody and will face prosecution upon conclusion of investigations,” the spokesperson said.
The arrests have drawn attention to ongoing security concerns in parts of southeastern Nigeria. Community leaders have called for calm, urging residents to avoid spreading unverified information as authorities work to establish the facts.
The police command also reassured foreign nationals living and doing business in Anambra that adequate measures are being taken to protect lives and property. Officials emphasized that criminal activities will not be tolerated, regardless of the nationality of the victims or perpetrators.
Meanwhile, diplomatic representatives are expected to liaise with Nigerian authorities as investigations continue. The police have indicated that further updates will be provided as more details emerge.
The case underscores the importance of regional cooperation and proactive intelligence gathering in combating violent crime. For now, the focus remains on securing justice for the victims and preventing similar incidents in the future.
