NAFDAC Discovers Illegal Alcohol Production Facility on Lagos Island

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered an illicit alcohol production operation in the Lagos Island area of Lagos State.

According to a statement from NAFDAC, their officers, after extensive surveillance, found that several storage areas and rooms in Oke-Arin market had been converted into unauthorized factories for the production, packaging, and distribution of various alcoholic beverages.

During the operation, authorities seized over 2,000 cartons of both empty and filled bottles, a small plastic mixing tank, an improvised filter, and other packaging materials. Three individuals—Mr. Ikenna Daniel Ndeka, Mr. Innocent Chike, and Mr. Chukwu John—were arrested in connection with the illegal activity.
The statement estimated the street value of the seized goods at around N200 million and called on the public to be cautious when purchasing alcoholic drinks. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face legal proceedings once the investigation is complete.
