Nasarawa Police Arrest Man for Defrauding Victim of ₦17 Million Using Governor’s Name

The Nasarawa State Police Command has detained Shuaibu Isiaka, a 58-year-old resident of Tudun Gwandara, Lafia, on charges of fraud. Isiaka is accused of swindling a victim out of ₦17 million by falsely claiming to have connections with the State Governor.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, August 11, by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the suspect allegedly deceived the victim by pretending to offer a contract from the Nasarawa State Government. The statement detailed that Isiaka, also known as Ziko, was arrested following a formal complaint.
The statement reads: “Officers from the State Criminal Investigation Department have apprehended Shuaibu Isiaka, a 58-year-old, for fraudulently using the Nasarawa State Governor’s name to deceive and defraud a member of the public of ₦17 million. The suspect misled the victim by pretending to secure a government contract.”
During interrogation, Isiaka admitted to the crime but claimed the amount he obtained was ₦14 million rather than ₦17 million as alleged.
Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the case and directed that all involved parties be pursued, regardless of their status. He also cautioned the public to be cautious of individuals who exploit the names of prominent figures to deceive others.
