Nasarawa Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper, Seize Ransom Money
The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended a suspected kidnapper and recovered 547,000 Naira in connection with a recent abduction case. Ramhan Nansel, the command’s spokesperson, announced the arrest to reporters on Sunday.
Nansel explained that the recovered amount is part of the ransom paid for the release of one Cironman Fulani, who was kidnapped in Arugbadu village, located in the Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
On October 27, 2024, at around 11:30 AM, police operatives from the 38 PMF Akwanga, in collaboration with the Nasarawa Eggon Division, arrested Abdulkarim Zakari from Konba village in Wamba Local Government Area. He is currently under investigation for his involvement in the kidnapping.
“During interrogation, Zakari admitted to being part of the group that abducted Ciroman Fulani and revealed they collected a ransom of 5 million Naira, with his share amounting to 1.2 million Naira,” Nansel stated.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has initiated a search for other members of the syndicate who are still at large. He also praised the police officers for their ongoing efforts to combat crime in the state.
