Ndume Urges Tinubu to Lower Fuel and Food Prices Amid Rising Costs

Ali Ndume

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take into account the struggles of Nigerians by reducing fuel and food prices. He expressed concern that the steep rise in prices for fuel, food, and essential goods is threatening the livelihoods of many citizens.

In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, Ndume attributed the situation to “bad elements” undermining Tinubu’s administration, accusing them of promoting “harsh reforms and misguided policies” rather than addressing inflation and the fluctuating exchange rate.

Recently, the price of fuel at NNPC stations increased to N1,030 per litre, compounding the existing hardships caused by the removal of fuel subsidies and other economic measures.

Ndume highlighted the difficulties faced by families in Borno, noting that farmers are struggling to transport their goods to market due to high transportation costs.

He stated, “I believe President Tinubu genuinely cares for Nigeria and its people, but some of his advisers may not have the nation’s best interests at heart. I urge him to be wary of those who seek to create discord between the people and his administration.”

Ndume called for immediate action upon the President’s return to Nigeria, stressing the urgent need to address these issues, as many citizens are unable to afford basic necessities.
