News now: Alan Myers shares fresh Ernest Nuamah …
Ernest Nuamah may not want to leave Olympique Lyon before 30 August with Everton looking into a deal, according to Alan Myers.
The Sky Sports journalist reported via X (29 August) that despite his doubts, a deal could still be possible at the last minute.
Everton are said to be in advanced talks over a potential temporary move for the Ghanaian attacker [HITC], so this could still be one to watch on deadline day.
Myers wrote: “It’s still possible, but I’m told, and I have no idea if true, that the player may not want to leave, but let’s see.”
Everton should turn their attention away from Ernest Nuamah
Although Everton could do with another number nine within their ranks, it doesn’t feel as if Nuamah is the answer that they’re looking for.
The striker has only played one full season in Europe’s top five leagues and even then only managed to contribute to a total of five goals despite being a regular player for Lyon.
Sean Dyche has two senior number nines within his ranks that are available for selection at the moment.
Those being, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto. The duo didn’t have the best of seasons last term with neither player hitting double digits in terms of goals scored.
However, despite the poor form of the aforementioned pair, it feels as if Nuamah has a similar goal-scoring record and would be a waste of what little money Everton has left, despite age being on his side.
And, in reality, there are many more areas within Dyche’s squad that need reinforcement before their strikers, unless of course, Calvert-Lewin makes his way out of the Goodison Park exit door [Caught Offside, 27 August] before the deadline.
In other Everton news, a John Textor takeover claim has been blasted as “complete and utter nonsense” amid a £1.74billion development.
