NLC: Nigerians Could Face ₦5,000 Per Litre Petrol Prices Under Tinubu; Give Reasons

NLC

Benson Upah, spokesperson for the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has raised concerns that Nigerians might soon face petrol prices of ₦5,000 per litre.

In an interview with Weekend Trust, Upah criticized the recent increase in fuel prices, asserting that it contradicts agreements made with President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He challenged the government’s claim of restoring the subsidy, arguing that no such measure has been implemented.

Upah remarked, “The supposed subsidy restoration is a myth. The drastic price hikes from ₦650 to potentially ₦1,500 or even ₦2,000 per litre indicate a troubling trend. If this continues, we could see petrol prices reaching ₦5,000 per litre. We hope it doesn’t come to that, but the future of fuel pricing will ultimately be in the hands of Nigerians.”
