NNPC Ltd Restarts Oil Exploration in Northern Nigeria – Gov. Inuwa Yahaya

Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has announced that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has resumed crude oil exploration at a site located between Bauchi and Gombe states.
Governor Yahaya made the statement during a two-day Government-Citizen Engagement Forum taking place at Arewa House in Kaduna. The event, organized by the Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, was aimed at reviewing the performance of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in Northern Nigeria at the midway point of its term.
Reflecting on the initial launch of the Kolmani oil drilling project in 2022—under former President Muhammadu Buhari—Yahaya recalled that then-presidential candidate Bola Tinubu had nearly missed attending the event.
He shared that neither the federal government nor NNPC had extended an invitation to Tinubu. “I intervened,” Yahaya said. “I told the party leadership that our candidate should be informed about the project. I urged them to bring him in under the APC platform.”
He emphasized the continuity of the project, expressing confidence that President Buhari laid the groundwork for a successor to take the initiative
forward.
