Northerners strongly support Tinubu, not plotting against him – Aisha Yesufu

Aisha Yesufu, a well-known socio-political activist, dismissed recent claims suggesting that Northern Nigerians are conspiring against President Bola Tinubu. On Wednesday, Yesufu emphasized that the North strongly supported Tinubu during the 2023 election, particularly due to the Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Yesufu questioned the idea that the North would now be working against Tinubu simply because he is a Southern president. She noted on X that the North was highly supportive of Tinubu, even to the extent that some Northern religious leaders criticized those who did not back him.
She remarked, “The North provided crucial votes to Tinubu under the Muslim-Muslim ticket, and now there are claims that they are conspiring against him due to his Southern origins. It’s amusing to hear such accusations when the North played a significant role in his election.”
Amidst the EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, there were allegations that the North was seeking a change in leadership, with some protesters even advocating for a military intervention. However, the Nigerian military has publicly rejected any such suggestions of a return to power.
