Obi Set to Address Tinubu Over High POS Charges Burdening Nigerians

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has voiced strong concerns over the financial struggles faced by low-income Nigerians, particularly in relation to the high charges imposed by POS operators.
Obi expressed his frustration with the burdens placed on ordinary Nigerians, especially small traders, during a visit to His Grace Alexander Ibezim, Archbishop of the Province on the Niger and Bishop of the Awka Diocese of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion.
He remarked, “The level of hardship in Nigeria is unbearable. How can ordinary citizens survive when they face such excessive charges just to access their own money? A woman selling pepper on the roadside struggles to pay these fees, and after doing so, there’s hardly anything left for her profit.”
Obi emphasized that such practices are unacceptable and stated that he would take the matter directly to President Bola Tinubu. “I will officially write to the President about this issue and present all the concerns. No country operates in such a manner,” he added, firmly opposing the high POS charges that are increasingly affecting the most vulnerable in society.
