Ogunbiyi’s Reckless Remarks Not APC’s Position, Raise Questions About His Loyalty — Osun West Youths
Ogunbiyi’s Reckless Remarks Not APC’s Position, Raise Questions About His Loyalty — Osun West Youths
The Concerned Progressive Youths of Osun West have renewed their call for restraint, unity, and discipline among stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), warning against attempts by desperate politicians to create confusion within the party ahead of the 2027 senatorial elections.
In a statement released on Saturday, the group described as false and misleading the rumour that the Presidency had invited Governor Ademola Adeleke for any political engagement or alignment, insisting that such claims are deliberate fabrications aimed at destabilizing the APC.
“We categorically state that at no time did the Presidency invite Governor Adeleke. These are concocted stories designed to distract our members and create unnecessary tension within the progressive fold,” the statement read.
The group also reacted to a statement credited to Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, noting that the remarks, captured in a video currently circulating widely across social media platforms—do not represent the position of the APC in Osun State.
“The reckless statement from Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, as seen in a viral video making the rounds on social media, does not in any way represent the position of our great party. Rather, it raises serious concerns about his commitment to the ideals and discipline of the APC. A true party man, especially one aspiring to represent Osun West, would not act in a manner capable of jeopardizing the chances of the party in the forthcoming governorship election or throw the progressive family into confusion,” the group stated.
According to the youths, credible information available to them indicates that Governor Adeleke had made moves to join the APC but was firmly rejected by party leaders across all levels.
“It is on record that Governor Adeleke desperately sought to join the APC but was rebuffed by leaders of the party at all levels, including the apex leader of our great party, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, the Honourable Minister for Marine and Blue Economy. This is a man who has demonstrated unwavering commitment and love for the APC, working round the clock to ensure that the party reclaims Osun State in the August 15, 2026 governorship election,” the statement added.
Reiterating their warning, the group cautioned individuals bent on pursuing selfish political interests at the expense of party unity to desist or risk political isolation.
“It is unfortunate that some individuals, driven by personal ambition, are overheating the polity and attempting to mislead party faithful. The APC is bigger than any individual, and we will resist any attempt to destabilize it,” they warned.
The youths emphasized that the immediate priority of the party remains the August 15 governorship election, urging all members to rally behind the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
“Our focus must remain firmly on securing victory for our party and our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), who stands as the most credible and capable choice. The APC is well-positioned and fortified to win, particularly with the recent influx of high-profile defectors into our ranks,” the statement noted.
They highlighted the defection of two serving senators, three members of the House of Representatives, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, Hon. Kayode Oduoye, Chief Shuaib Oyedokun, and several other prominent figures from the PDP and Accord Party as a testament to the growing strength of the APC in Osun State.
“These defections have significantly boosted our structure and grassroots appeal, reaffirming the confidence of the people in the APC as the only viable platform for progress and good governance,” they said.
The group concluded by urging party faithful to remain united and focused.
“Victory is within reach if we remain disciplined, united, and committed. We call on all progressives to ignore distractions, close ranks, and work tirelessly towards delivering Osun State for the APC and AMBO on August 15,” the statement concluded.
