Osun 2026: Oyebamiji will beat Adeleke hands down – Omowaiye

The Head of Media and Publicity of APC Governorship Campaign Council for the August 15 election, Engr Oluremi Omowaiye, has declared that the candidate of the party, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly called AMBO, will beat the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke come August 15th this year.

Omowaiye accused Adeleke’s government of gross malfeasance and mismanagement of the public funds, noting that verifiable records have shown clearly that the incumbent government has failed Osun people.

Omowaiye, who is the current Executive Director, Projects Implementation, Federal Housing Authority, FHA, expressed confidence in the competence and capacity of Oyebamiji to unseat Adeleke, saying “Oyebamiji’s proven trackrecords would aid his emergence at the poll.”

Omowaiye stated these on Monday during a familiarization visit to the members of the print and broadcast correspondents at the NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel, Osogbo.

He alleged Adeleke’s government of mismanaging over one trillion naira accrued from all sources in the last 41 months of being at the helms of affairs in the state, challenging the state government to publish what it has used the resources for.

The former Osun Commissioner for Works and Transport who described Osun as an agrarian state lamented how Osun government allegedly lavished over 92billion naira on ‘feeding’ in the Governor’s office within 41 months but expended a paltry 7billion naira on agriculture for same period.

Omowaiye, who lampooned Adeleke’s failures in education, health, security, commerce, youth and sports, infrastructure, empowerment, power and energy sectors said “today nothing works under the current government.”

He assured the people of the state that Oyebamiji remains focused and prepared to right all the identified wrongs of the incumbent government when elected Governor.

Omowaiye added: “as at today, no sector of the economy is functional except entertainment. Adeleke is a dancer. His government has failed woefully to turnaround the entertainment industry for the benefit and betterment of the state and her people. Our education is comatose. Health sector is moribund. Security is nothing to write home about. Agriculture is a complete failure under the watch of this government. But quite unfortunate, the Governor, who has failed to invest in the education of our children, revamp the agriculture sector and provide security gadgets, could conveniently expend over 92billion naira to feed himself and few unproductive officials in the Governor’s office.

“These are verifiable records. Go and check Osun budget performance. Go and see what Adeleke’s government spent on agriculture – a ridiculous amount (7billion naira) whereas the same government can spend billions of naira on feeding, billions of naira on traveling, billions of naira on frivolities at the expense of real developments.

“I can tell you that Osun people are tired of this government and they are ready to vote Adeleke out of government. Electorate are ready to send a government who imposed satanic tuition fees on the poor parents of Unilesa University where law students pay 1.5million per session, where nursing students pay 1.3million naira per session – the highest tuition fees in the history of public universities in Nigeria.

“So, if you look at the 7-point prosperity agenda of Oyebamiji’s manifesto, you will agree with me that he is more than prepared. He is ready to build a state that we will all be proud of. These identified anomalies in the Adeleke’s government will be fixed. Oyebamiji will beat Adeleke hands down come August 15th, 2026. We are not perturbed instead we are formidable to unseat him through balloting and God on our side, we will come victorious in the next governorship election.”

Some members of the Media Committee in attendance are: Mrs Funke Egbemode, former Commissioner for Information and media committee co-chairman, Elder Adedeji Adebayo (Secretary), Hon. Akin Adeyi, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji, Comrade Wale Alabi, Mr. Waheed Adekunle, Mr. Kazeem Muhammed, Mr. Yakubu Atanda, Mr. Sunday Omolebi, Mr. David Fagbohungbe, Funke Olutumbi, Mr. Olalekan Kajola, Mr. Muftau Adebowale among others.
