Osun ALGON Chairman’s Speech on Workers’ Day: Call for Local Government Staff to Resume

Delivered on the occasion of the 2025 Workers’ Day Celebration, May 1st, 2025

Distinguished Local Government Workers of Osun State,

It is with immense pride and deep appreciation that I stand before you today, representing all reinstated Local Government Chairmen across Osun State, as we mark the 2025 edition of Workers’ Day.

Today belongs to you—the tireless workforce that keeps the engine of our local governments running. From health professionals in our clinics, to teachers shaping the minds of the next generation, to the essential support staff maintaining our offices and facilities—your dedication forms the bedrock of our communities.

Let me be clear:

We see your hard work. We value your service. And we will never take your commitment for granted.

I commend those of you who have returned to duty and appeal to others yet to resume to consider the greater good of our grassroots communities. Your presence is vital, your impact immeasurable.

In our renewed commitment to supporting you, my colleagues and I are rolling out initiatives aimed at boosting your morale and enhancing your productivity. This includes structured staff training, improved workplace security, and various incentive packages. Meeting your essential needs—and those of the people you serve—remains at the heart of our agenda.

Timely payment of salaries and entitlements is a promise we will keep. Rest assured that once full workforce resumption is achieved, efforts will be made to reinstate laid-off teachers, healthcare workers, and OYES cadets.

Bonuses—whether for New Year, leave, or other entitlements—will no longer be seen as privileges but as rightful benefits.

We also plan to recruit more educators and health personnel to ensure our people have access to quality education and healthcare services.

To all our workers: you are the foundation of Osun State’s development. Your labor deserves recognition, fairness, and peace of mind.

As we celebrate Workers’ Day, let us reflect on its core values—dignity, dedication, and progress. Together, let us build a future where every local government worker in Osun feels valued, empowered, and secure.

Happy Workers’ Day to you all.

Thank you, and may God bless you.
