Adeleke’s Administration: A Disappointment in Governance
— Osun APC Responds to Gbajabiamila’s Remarks
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) extends a warm welcome to the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, on his visit to Osun State for the inaugural public lecture at Osun State University (UNIOSUN). However, we feel compelled to address and clarify certain public comments made during this visit.
According to reports, the respected former Speaker of the House of Representatives described Governor Ademola Adeleke’s performance as “phenomenal.” While we acknowledge Hon. Gbajabiamila’s goodwill, we firmly believe his statement stemmed from a lack of access to critical and unbiased information about the real situation in Osun.
It is clear to us that the Adeleke-led government deliberately shielded the Chief of Staff from engaging with key stakeholders who could have provided a clearer and more accurate picture of the state’s affairs. Had such interactions occurred, we are confident that Hon. Gbajabiamila would have seen through the facade and recognized the current administration’s many failings.
Since assuming office, Governor Adeleke has dismissed over 1,500 teachers, hundreds of health workers, and 20,000 youth empowerment cadets (OYES) without taking meaningful steps to replace them. This has severely disrupted education and healthcare delivery in Osun. Reports from concerned parents and widespread media coverage — including comprehensive reports by Rave FM — reveal a deepening crisis in the education sector.
Further evidence of misgovernance can be seen in the shoddy state of infrastructure. Just recently, road projects in areas such as Aduragbemi in Ido-Osun, Egbedore Local Government, collapsed after minor rainfall — a direct consequence of awarding contracts to unqualified allies of the governor.
It is also worth noting that while billions have been spent on luxury, entertainment, and personal comforts — reports estimate over N55 billion — not a single new teacher has been employed, despite collecting application fees from hopeful candidates.
Moreover, the indefinite closure of local government councils, stemming from the administration’s disregard for court orders reinstating elected APC officials, is a clear violation of democratic principles and the rule of law.
We therefore challenge the characterization of this administration as “phenomenal.” Such a description does not align with the reality faced by Osun residents.
We sincerely wish Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila a safe return to Abuja and encourage him to seek broader input on governance issues in Osun State during future visits.

Mogaji Kola Olabisi
