Osun APC Trashes Aregbesola’s Group Departure Announcement: “You Left Long Ago”
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the recent announcement by the Omoluabi Progressives, a faction led by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, to quit the party, stating that their departure is of no consequence since they had already left the APC in 2022.
The APC in Osun described the group’s declaration as irrelevant, branding it a “good riddance to bad rubbish.” They noted that many members of the Omoluabi Progressives had either been expelled or suspended from the party, and questioned the logic of individuals who have been officially removed still attempting to announce their departure.
The party stressed that those making the announcement had long since severed ties with the APC, both in spirit and action, particularly during the 2022 governorship elections in Osun. “You can’t claim to be part of the party and simultaneously work against its interests,” the APC statement declared, accusing the group of being agents of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun.
The APC also criticized the Omoluabi Progressives for allegedly disrespecting the party’s elders and the political figures who helped them rise. The statement emphasized that their recent announcement about possibly joining or forming another political party marked the beginning of their political demise, predicting that their influence would fade by the 2026 governorship election.
Osun APC remains confident that the party is growing stronger, and they warned the disillusioned supporters of Aregbesola’s faction that they would ultimately regret their decision. The APC further urged the group to reflect on their political journey and warned that those who attempt to undermine the party will face a grim political future.
