Prince Thomas Ogungbangbe
He is an Aspirant contesting for Senate, Osun East, the Chief Executive Officer of Cita Group and Pioneer Chairman of the Aviation Fuel Marketers Association of Nigeria, AFMAN.
Prince Thomas Olaleye Ogungbangbe(PhD) was born to a royal family of Ajagbusi Ekun of Iloko, in Iloko Ijesa, but grew up in Iragbiji both in Osun State.
He had his early Primary Education at C&S Primary School, Iragbiji, from 1975 to 1981. Providence smiled on him to continue his Secondary school Education in 1981 at Oke Iragbiji Grammar School, Iragbiji, where he obtained the West African School Certificate at a single sitting in 1987.
As a brilliant student with an impressive performance in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Examination with a high hope of securing admission for Medicine and Surgery, this intention was dashed by his father with a Yoruba phrase saying ” Se iwo ko mo pe Oju Alaisan nikan ni Dokita ti niyi” (Don’t you know that Doctor got his prestige only from his patients) this prompted him to study Microbiology in University of Ilorin, Kwara State and graduated with Bachelor of Science in 1991.
Prince Ogungbangbe is a scientist by training, holding a Bachelor’s and Master’s from the University of Ilorin respectively and a Master’s of Philosophy and Doctoral degree in Marketing Strategy from Babcock University, Nigeria.
Prince Ogungbangbe is a Jet fuel airfield inspector, with an IATA certified rating. He has attended several international trainings on Jet fuel by El, ASTM, API & IATA. Thomas has attended leadership courses at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, Imperial College of Technology, Wye campus, Kent, UK and graduated as a Fellow of LEAD-Leadership on Environment and Development, UK. He also trained at Harvard Business School and is an alumnus of Said Business School, University of Oxford, UK.
CAREER
Prince Ogungbangbe began his career in the Pharmaceutical Industry, serving as a Consumer Product Manager at Pfizer plc (1994-2000). He later transitioned to the banking sector as Head of Consumer Banking at Gateway Bank Plc (2000-2002).
He had a demonstrable record of hard work, Excellence, and Integrity. He was noted for enviable performance in his Career in the Oil and Gas sector and significantly contributed to the aviation fuel industry in the following roles.
Before establishing CITA, Dr. Ogungbangbe was the General Manager, Aviation Business at MRS Oil &Gas, seconded to Chevron Oil Nigeria Plc, as Aviation Marketing Manager – West Africa and later promoted as the Group Aviation Manager -West & Central Africa, based in the Lagos office, where he was the focal point for all aviation fuel work for Corlay/MRS Gro.
Prince Ogungbangbe was a co-founder of SO Aviation (formerly Aviation Air & Land Services) during which period he was, Operations and Marketing Director at different times Before joining Sahara’ SO Aviation, he had a brief stint as the Aviation Commercial Manager of National Oil & Chemical Marketing Plc (now Conoil Plc) in 2002 and later became the Aviation Operations Manager and Divisional Business Manager – of Conoil Aviation Service.
He is widely respected for pioneering reforms in the downstream Oil and gas sector, particularly regarding Aviation Fuel Market liberalisation. He has successfully championed indigenous participation, economic empowerment and industrial innovation with deep policy insight and a proven track record of results, to deliver public good through visionary governance.
As a trailblazer with a proven track of visioning and executing a radical change resulting in championing industry reforms on issues of Discharge by Meter and Loss Prevention, and in the ease of entry of local Companies in the Aviation Fuel markets of the downstream oil and gas sector, governed solely by large-scale International Oil Companies.
A rare feat of ending international companies’ dominance was primarily achieved in 2013 as the CEO and Managing Director of CITA GROUP a company owned 100% with a subdivision of CITA ENERGIES, the largest Aviation Fuel company in Nigeria which offers fuel services across 15 airfields and 16 oil depots nationwide to its credit,
