Osun NYSC Camp Hosts Vibrant Ankara Night to Celebrate African Culture

It was a night of color, culture, and creativity at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede, Osun State, as Corps Members of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II lit up the multipurpose hall for the much-anticipated Ankara Night celebration.
The event, dedicated to honoring African heritage through fashion and performance, brought together Corps Members, officials, and guests for an unforgettable evening of cultural pride and entertainment. Among those in attendance were the Camp Director, Mrs. Veronica Olawale, Head of Socials Mr. Sesan Fadeyi, and other camp officials, who joined in the festivities.
The night kicked off with pulsating Afrobeat music from the DJ, creating an energetic and festive atmosphere. Each platoon made a dramatic and stylish entrance, showcasing custom-made Ankara outfits that ranged from classic to contemporary designs—each one telling its own story of tradition and modern flair.
The highlight of the evening was the Mr. and Miss Ankara competition, where participants confidently took to the stage in both male and female categories. The contestants impressed judges and captivated the audience with their elegance, creativity, and bold interpretations of African fashion. Cheers and applause filled the hall as each model walked the runway with pride and personality.
The grand finale saw the crowned Mr. and Miss Ankara from each platoon dance in unison to rhythmic beats, celebrating not just fashion, but unity, talent, and cultural appreciation.
More than just a style contest, Ankara Night served as a vibrant expression of African identity, connecting Corps Members through shared heritage and artistic flair. The event reminded everyone that African culture is not only rich and timeless, but also dynamic—constantly evolving through the creativity of younger generations.
