Osun Police Parade Deadly Cult Gang and Thieves Behind Violent Attacks and Theft
The Osun State Police Command has paraded several suspects allegedly involved in cult activities, theft, and conspiracy. During a press briefing in Osogbo on Wednesday, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, revealed the identities of the suspects: Ibrahim Gbadamosi, 32, also known as Gbedu; Ibiyemi Saheed, 27, also known as Mouth; Ayandiya Yusuf, 30, also known as Lakaye; and Ogunwole Najeem, 30, also known as Agali.
Opalola stated that the suspects were apprehended by the police anti-cultism squad at their hideout. Following an investigation, it was discovered that the gang was involved in a series of criminal activities, including the attempted murder of one Samuel Friday in Iree town.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects had attacked the Osun State Polytechnic in Iree on December 17, 2024, where they assaulted staff, including the School Public Relations Officer, and blocked the main entrance. Additionally, on the night of January 5, 2025, they were linked to the death of Toyin Adetunji, a 46-year-old woman, who was hit and killed by a Toyota Camry driven by one of the suspects. The vehicle, with registration number ABC 962 TD Abuja, was found at the scene before the suspects fled.
Opalola also noted that criminal charms and substances suspected to be cannabis sativa were recovered from the suspects.
In addition to the cultists, four other individuals were paraded for theft and conspiracy. These suspects—Adedayo Adesanya, Olansile Abdullateef, Olalere Gbenga, and Muftau Balogun—were found in possession of stolen items, including a Toyota Venza (BDG 710 H), bags of rice, yams, bananas, Opay cards, and other items.
The suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crimes, and investigations are ongoing. They will be charged in court once the investigation is completed.
