“Osun Will Not Burn on Our Watch” — Prince Ogungbangbe Criticise PDP Over Alleged Plans to Destabilize Local Governments

“Osun Will Not Burn on Our Watch” — Prince Ogungbangbe Criticise PDP Over Alleged Plans to Destabilize Local Governments

Prince Thomas Olaleye Ogungbangbe, PhD, a revered statesman and influential voice in the newly formed Ife/Ijesa District, has issued a stern warning to the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing them of plotting to disrupt the peace and stability of the state.

In a bold statement, Prince Ogungbangbe responded to credible intelligence suggesting that the PDP is scheming to incite violence against legitimately elected Local Government Chairmen and Councilors. He described such alleged plans as not only irresponsible but a direct threat to the democratic fabric of Osun State.

“This is not just reckless; it is a provocation that our state cannot afford. The law is clear—the Appeal Court has ruled on the matter of local government administration. That judgment is binding and must be respected by all,” Prince Ogungbangbe stated emphatically.

He condemned any attempt by political actors to undermine judicial authority or resort to intimidation as a means of political expression, warning that such acts will be met with lawful resistance by citizens committed to democracy and justice.

“No political party has the right to twist the law for selfish ambition. The peace of Osun is sacred, and anyone trying to tear it apart will face the full weight of both public and legal accountability,” he warned.

Calling on security agencies to remain alert, Prince Ogungbangbe urged them to act swiftly and decisively to prevent any breakdown of law and order. He also called on peace-loving citizens to stay vigilant, remain calm, and protect democratic structures, especially at the grassroots level.

“Osun must not be sacrificed on the altar of political desperation. Let civility, law, and democracy guide every action. No ambition is worth the peace of our people,” he concluded.
