Otti Had in Four Months What I Didn’t Get in Eight Years as Governor — Kalu

Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has claimed that Governor Alex Otti received more financial resources within four months than were available to him throughout his eight years in office as governor.

Kalu made the statement on Thursday while speaking with journalists at a press briefing held at his country home in Igbere. He argued that the level of funding currently flowing to Abia State far exceeds what was accessible during his administration and said this should be taken into account when evaluating the performance of the present government.

According to the former Senate Chief Whip, many of the ongoing projects under the current administration are largely renovations or repainting of infrastructure originally built during his tenure. He insisted that he has yet to see large-scale new road projects comparable to those his government executed.

Kalu further defended his record as governor, stating that his administration provided free education and healthcare services to residents of Abia State. He stressed that these achievements remain on record and can be independently verified.

Speaking about his role in the National Assembly, the senator said his legislative work has delivered tangible benefits, especially in rural development. He noted that several new access roads and farmland routes have been constructed across communities in Abia North, adding that within two years, his efforts have produced results many believed were unattainable.
