NAF Airstrikes Target Bandit Leaders, Kill Multiple Terrorists in Zamfara The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reportedly killed several bandits in a series of targeted airstrikes in Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State. According to Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the airstrikes were aimed at Ado Aliero, a notorious bandit leader, and his associate, Dan Umaru. The operation, which was part of the ongoing Operation Fasan Yamma, successfully dismantled the bandits’ networks and their criminal activities in the region. Intelligence sources revealed that the strikes resulted in the neutralization of key terrorist figures and the disruption of their operations. The attack also caused significant damage, with flames engulfing Dan Umaru’s residence, a known base for the group’s planning and coordination of raids. These strikes are part of continued efforts by the Nigerian military to combat the escalating insecurity in the northwest, which has seen insurgent attacks and banditry persist for over a decade. The Nigerian Army has been ramping up operations to eliminate bandit groups and restore peace to the region. Earlier in September, troops from Operation Hadarin Daji killed Kachallah Buzu, another infamous bandit leader, along with several of his fighters, in Mayanchi village, Zamfara State. In the same month, NAF airstrikes in Shiroro LGA of Niger State targeted terrorists, resulting in the deaths of at least 28 bandits.
