Panic as Fuel Tanker Explodes on Epe-Ijebu Ode Expressway

A fuel tanker explosion near the Old Toll Gate in Mojoda, Epe Local Government Area, Lagos State, has caused major disruptions on the Epe-Ijebu Ode Expressway.
Emergency reports confirm that at least two individuals, including the tanker driver, narrowly escaped before the vehicle erupted into flames around 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The tanker, which was transporting fuel out of Lagos, exploded under unclear circumstances.
The explosion caused significant traffic delays, forcing motorists to find alternative routes. Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the incident and assured the public that efforts to control the blaze and prevent further damage were in progress.
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is actively responding to the fuel tanker fire on the Epe-Ijebu Ode Expressway, near the Old Toll Gate in Mojoda,” Adeseye said. “There are no additional individuals in danger at the scene, apart from the tanker occupant. Efforts to contain the fire are ongoing.”
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and urge motorists to follow safety instructions and remain cautious while traveling in the area.
