PDP in Ondo Reaffirms Strength as Opposition, Rejects Rumoured Dissolution of State Executive

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has reiterated its role as a strong and formidable opposition, insisting that it remains committed to keeping the ruling party in check despite internal and external challenges.
State Chairman Mr. Dupe Aisida made the remarks on Friday, dismissing reports of the alleged dissolution of the state executive committee. According to a report by The Nation Newspaper, the claim originated from a statement by the factional National Organizing Secretary, Umaru Bature, which purportedly dissolved the committee and appointed a caretaker team.
Aisida described the report as baseless, emphasizing that the PDP in Ondo remains intact and fully operational.
“The attention of the Ondo State Chapter of the PDP has been drawn to statements circulating in some quarters claiming that the National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC) has dissolved the Ondo State Executive Committee. We categorically state that the state executive committee remains duly constituted and fully functional,” Aisida said, according to a statement he issued (as reported by The Punch).
He added that the publication did not follow proper channels, was misleading, and could generate unnecessary confusion among party members and the public.
Highlighting the party’s resilience, Aisida stressed that recent local elections across the country have shown PDP’s enduring strength. “Though PDP faces challenges, it is a party that will not die. We remain united and committed to credible leadership and serving as a viable alternative for the people of Ondo State,” he said.
He further urged party members across the state’s 18 local government areas to remain calm, focused, and loyal to the party, advising the media and the public to disregard any claims capable of undermining the party’s cohesion.
“The Ondo State PDP remains committed to unity, stability, and growth. Our focus is on providing credible leadership and holding the ruling party accountable,” Aisida concluded.
This development comes amid ongoing factional tensions within the PDP at the national level, which have occasionally led to conflicting claims over executive appointments in various states ,according to The Guardian newspaper,Nigeria.
