In a statement issued after a high-level meeting at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja, the NWC maintained that Senator Anyanwu remains the legally recognized and constitutionally elected National Secretary of the party. The decision follows weeks of internal deliberations and concerns raised by various stakeholders over leadership roles within the PDP.

“The NWC, after careful consideration and in line with the provisions of the PDP Constitution, confirms that Senator Samuel Anyanwu continues to serve as the National Secretary of the party. His election into the office remains valid, and no lawful process has nullified his position,” the statement read.

Senator Anyanwu, a seasoned politician and former lawmaker from Imo State, has played a central role in the PDP’s organizational strategy, especially in the South-East region. His reconfirmation is seen by many party faithful as a move to strengthen party unity ahead of upcoming elections and strategic decisions.

In recent months, internal tensions had surfaced within the PDP, with questions being raised about the legitimacy of certain national officers, including the National Secretary. However, the NWC’s latest resolution aims to eliminate ambiguity and refocus attention on party rebuilding efforts.

Party insiders say the reaffirmation is part of broader reconciliation efforts to ensure cohesion and discipline within the ranks of the PDP. “This is about moving forward. The NWC wants to focus on strengthening the party, not internal wrangling,” a senior official said.

Supporters of Senator Anyanwu have welcomed the decision, describing it as a victory for due process and internal democracy. “This confirmation reaffirms that the PDP is a party guided by rules and structure. It’s a clear message that illegitimate power grabs will not be tolerated,” one party chieftain stated.

As the PDP gears up for key political battles ahead, especially in the run-up to the next general elections, the party leadership has emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and respect for institutional authority.

Senator Anyanwu is expected to resume his full responsibilities in steering administrative coordination and contributing to policy and electoral strategy at the nationa

l level.
