Peter Obi Supporter Urges EFCC to Investigate Tinubu Over Alleged Politically-Motivated Donations

Peter Obi
A supporter of Peter Obi has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to take action against Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing the former Lagos governor of using large financial donations as a political tool ahead of the 2023 elections.
In a post shared on social media, the user listed several major donations allegedly made by Tinubu, suggesting they were not acts of charity, but strategic moves to sway public opinion.
Alleged Donations Cited Include:
1. ₦50 million to families affected by the Owo church attack, and another ₦25 million to the church itself
2. ₦100 million to purchase the APC presidential nomination form
3. ₦50 million for flood victims in Jigawa State
4. ₦100 million for flood victims in Kano
5. ₦50 million to victims of bandit attacks in Niger State
6. ₦50 million to those affected by the Gusau attack
7. ₦200 million toward Nigeria’s COVID-19 response
8. ₦50 million to support victims of the Kaduna train attack
The critic argued that the “timing and pattern” of these donations suggest they were intended to gain political favor rather than offered out of compassion.
> “Most of these donations appear politically driven. At what point will the EFCC investigate or disqualify him?” the post queried.
The message has sparked fresh debate online, with some echoing the concerns, while others defended the donations as
part of Tinubu’s philanthropic record.
