Petroleum Marketers Set to Meet with DSS Over Petrol Pricing and Availability

Petroleum marketers are scheduled to meet with the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, to discuss issues surrounding the pricing and availability of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol).
The President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) shared this information during an interview with DAILY POST on Monday. While he did not elaborate on the specifics of the meeting, he confirmed that it would focus on petrol pump prices and accessibility for marketers.
“I have a meeting with the Department of State Services on Wednesday. It will address the petrol pump price, as any engagement with IPMAN typically relates to petrol availability for our members,” he stated.
When asked for more details, he mentioned, “I will provide updates after the meeting.”
This development comes as fuel prices for consumers range from N950 to N1,200 or more across Nigeria.
Additionally, it was reported on Monday that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has stepped back from its role as the sole off-taker for Dangote petrol. The Dangote Refinery began distributing petrol in September, coinciding with a rise in petrol prices set by NNPCL.
