Police Arrest 1,284 Suspects in Six Weeks Nationwide

The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended 1,284 suspects in various operations across the country over the past six weeks. The arrests include 307 armed robbery suspects, 296 kidnapping suspects, 176 rape and defilement suspects, 301 homicide suspects, and 204 suspected cultists.

Force Spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed this on Friday during the parade of some of the arrested suspects. Adejobi reported that the police rescued 97 kidnapped victims and recovered 284 firearms along with 6,702 rounds of ammunition.
“In the last six weeks, the Nigerian police force has arrested 307 armed robbery suspects, 296 kidnapping suspects, 301 homicide suspects, 176 rape and defilement suspects, and 204 suspected cultists. We’ve recovered 284 firearms, 6,702 rounds of ammunition, and 107 vehicles, and we were able to rescue 97 victims of kidnapping,” Adejobi stated.
Additionally, Adejobi mentioned the establishment of a money laundering unit by Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to combat financial crimes. The unit will leverage the existing collaboration between the police and other anti-graft agencies to curb terrorism financing and international crimes.
