Police Arrest Suspected Organ Trafficker and Child Abuser

The Imo State Police Command has disrupted a suspected kidnapping and organ trafficking ring, resulting in the arrest of one individual and the rescue of a 19-year-old girl. The operation occurred on October 10, 2024, in the Douglas area of Owerri Municipal Council.
According to ASP Okoye Henry, the Police Public Relations Officer, the kidnappers were intercepted while transporting the young woman to an undisclosed location. He stated, “Our vigilant patrol operatives spotted the suspects in a blue and white bus, forcibly taking the girl to a site where they intended to harm her and harvest her organs.”
The police engaged in a swift chase, leading to the suspects abandoning their vehicle. Justine Emmanuel, a 38-year-old man, was apprehended, while others managed to flee into a nearby forest.
In a separate case, officers from the Owerri Urban Area Command arrested Mrs. Blessing Emmanuel, a secondary school teacher, for allegedly abusing her 12-year-old stepdaughter, Amarachi Emmanuel. This arrest took place on Tuesday following a complaint from activist journalist Chidiebube Okeoma.
Okoye urged the community to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior, affirming, “The Imo State Police Command is dedicated to fighting violent crime and ensuring the safety of our communities.”
