Police Reopen Investigation Into River Park Dispute
Riverdale – July 21, 2025: Local authorities have reopened their investigation into the ongoing dispute surrounding River Park, a popular green space at the heart of the community that has recently become the focus of intense public scrutiny and private conflict.
According to a statement released by the Riverdale Police Department on Monday morning, new evidence has surfaced prompting law enforcement to reexamine the case, which was initially closed last year due to insufficient evidence.
Long-Running Dispute
The River Park conflict began nearly two years ago when allegations surfaced over illegal land encroachments and unauthorized developments along the park’s northern boundary. Community members accused a local real estate firm, Greenstone Developments, of quietly extending construction onto public land, a claim the company has consistently denied.
Residents have also raised concerns about environmental damage, citing the removal of native trees and possible pollution of the nearby river. A citizens’ petition demanding government intervention garnered over 12,000 signatures, increasing pressure on local officials to act.
New Evidence Comes to Light
Police spokesperson Lt. Maria Kendall confirmed that the investigation was reopened following the receipt of what she called “compelling documentation and digital media,” allegedly showing recent construction activity that violates public land use laws.
“Given the nature of the new evidence, we believe there is cause to reassess earlier conclusions and explore whether criminal misconduct was involved,” said Lt. Kendall. She declined to provide specifics but confirmed that both environmental experts and land registry officials are assisting with the renewed probe.
