Police Service Commission Promote 684 Seniour Officers; See Names
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the promotion of 684 senior police officers to higher ranks as of August 30, 2024. This decision was made during the first Plenary Meeting of the new PSC Board.
Among the promotions, eight Commissioners of Police have been elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police. They include:
– CP Benneth Igwe (FCT Command)
– CP Suleiman Mohammed Abdul (acting AIG, PAB, Force Headquarters Abuja)
– CP Augustina Nwuka Ogbodo (Ebonyi State Command)
– CP Stephen Olanrewaju (Admin, Works, Force Headquarters Abuja)
– CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie (Abia State Command)
– CP Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha (Lagos State Command)
– CP Adegboyega Funsho Adegboye (Admin, FID, Abuja)
– CP Mohammed Bala Labbo (Communication DICT, Force Headquarters Abuja)
Additionally, 15 Deputy Commissioners of Police have been promoted to Commissioners of Police. They are:
– DCP Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari (State CID Taraba State Command)
– DCP Betty Enekpen Otimenyin (DFA, Zone 5 Benin)
– DCP James Iroegbunam Nwokolo (DFA, Edo State Command)
– DCP Felix Nka Oben (Federal Operations, Force Headquarters Annex Lagos)
– DCP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosayin (Armament, Directorate of Operations, Force Headquarters Abuja)
– DCP Ugobueze Ogbodo (Deputy Commandant, Police Detective College Enugu)
– DCP Ohagwu Felix Ndukwe (Department of Operations, Zone 11 Osogbo)
– DCP Taylor Lennox Olarewaju (CCR, Lagos State)
– DCP Sa’adatu Ismaila (Anti Human Trafficking Annex Lagos)
– DCP Olabode Adeleye Akinbamilowo (Deputy Force Secretary DFS11)
– DCP Regina Cosmas Udoette (Department of Finance and Admin, Akwa Ibom State Command)
– DCP Francis Omatimeyin Gbiwen (State CID Edo State Command)
– DCP Afolabi Wilfred Olatokunbo (Department of Finance and Admin, Delta State Command)
– DCP Ohiozoba Oyakhire Ehiede (Acting CP Legal, FCID Force Headquarters Abuja)
– DCP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya (Department of Finance and Admin, FID)
Furthermore, 52 Chief Superintendents of Police have been promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police, while 525 Superintendents of Police were advanced to Chief Superintendents. Additionally, 84 Deputy Superintendents of Police were promoted to Superintendents, and one ASP, Patrick Ebhodahe, was promoted to Deputy Superintendent of Police.
PSC Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, noted that the promotions were approved during a meeting led by PSC Chairman DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd). The meeting also included DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd) and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission.
DIG Argungu emphasized that future promotions will be based on merit and require formal examinations, aligning with Public Service Rules applicable to federal civil servants. He assured that promotions would be timely and deserved, with the PSC committed to maintaining fairness and transparency.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has been informed of these decisions, and the PSC has directed him to implement the promotions accordingly.
