President Tinubu Has Rekindled Hope for Osun Roads—Now, Let Us Complete the Regional Network

*President Tinubu Has Rekindled Hope for Osun Roads—Now, Let Us Complete the Regional Network*

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent flag-off of the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road and the reconstruction/dualisation of the Gbongan–Osogbo Road marks a defining milestone in the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Beyond the impressive ₦216 billion investment, these projects signal a deliberate, forward-thinking commitment to leveraging infrastructure as a driver of economic growth, regional integration, and national development.

Road infrastructure is far more than concrete, aggregate, and asphalt. It is the living network of commerce, agriculture, tourism, and education.

Every kilometre of durable road cuts travel times, lowers logistics costs, improves safety, and opens long-dormant economic doors for rural and urban communities alike.

For Osun State, these ongoing federal interventions will solidify vital trade channels with Oyo State, while complementing existing routes like the Ilesa–Akure–Owo–Benin corridor toward Ondo State and the South-South. They ease intra-state movement and stimulate a broader regional market economy.

Yet, to truly achieve a seamless, high-efficiency transport network, one critical link remains missing from the federal priority list: the Osogbo–Offa Road.

The reconstruction and dualisation of the Osogbo–Offa corridor would establish an essential artery directly connecting Osun State with Kwara State.

Positioned at the intersection of the South-West and North-Central geopolitical zones, this route is vital for moving agricultural produce, industrial supplies, and daily commuters.

Comprehensive rehabilitation and expansion of this heavily travelled road would immediately decongest alternative routes, elevate road safety, and significantly lower the cost of doing business across state borders.

As the Federal Government continues to execute its national infrastructure roadmap, prioritizing the Osogbo–Offa Road would deliver immense returns. It would tie together two vital economic zones, transforming a local commuter passage into a robust engine for inter-state commerce.

President Tinubu has shown through tangible action that infrastructure sits at the heart of his administration’s economic vision.

The momentum building across flagship projects in Osun State and across Nigeria merits clear appreciation.

The respectful appeal to Mr. President is straightforward: make the Osogbo–Offa Road the next flagship federal intervention in Osun State.

Dualising this stretch will do more than connect two towns across state lines—it will unlock untapped economic potential, deepen regional synergy, and fulfill the core promise of the Renewed Hope Agenda for millions of Nigerians.
