Presidential Break: Tinubu Departs Abuja for 10-Day Leave in Europe
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has embarked on a 10-day annual leave, departing Abuja for Europe in what officials describe as part of his routine schedule.
The President, who left the nation’s capital on Wednesday, is expected to spend his time in Europe before returning to Nigeria. According to the Presidency, the trip is strictly for personal rest and part of his yearly entitlement as Commander-in-Chief.
While Vice President Kashim Shettima will steer the affairs of state during Tinubu’s absence, the President is said to remain in close touch with his team to ensure the smooth running of government activities.
Tinubu’s leave comes at a time when his administration continues to face mounting economic and security challenges. Analysts note that such breaks are not unusual, as global leaders often take short vacations to recharge before resuming the heavy demands of office.
This is Tinubu’s first official vacation since assuming office on May 29, 2023. His stay in Europe, aides say, will also allow for informal consultations with some partners, though no official meetings have been announced.
The President is expected back in Nigeria after the 10-day period to continue with his reform agenda, which has largely focused on economic recovery, infrastructure development, and nationa
l security.
