PSC Approves Promotion of 238 Senior Police Officers, Elevates 12 CPs to AIG Rank; See Names

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the promotion of 238 high-ranking police officers, including the elevation of 12 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to the prestigious rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).

According to a statement released on Monday by PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani, the promoted officers represent various state commands, special units, and departments such as Intelligence, Fraud, and the Eastern Ports.

Among those elevated are the current Commissioners of Police for Oyo, Jigawa, Taraba, and the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Zonal Command in Gombe.

The list of newly promoted AIGs includes Johnson Oluwole Adenola, CP of Oyo State and former Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector General; Ako Benedict Gabriel, CP Anti-Fraud Unit; Ahmadu Tijani Abdullahi, CP Jigawa; Emmanuel Adegbola Aina, acting AIG, Force Intelligence; Omolara Ibidun Oloruntola; Hassan Abdu Yababet, CP of Police College, Jos; Bretet Emmanuel Simon, CP Taraba; Enyinnaya Inonachi Adiogu, CP, FCID Gombe Zone; Aminu Baba Raji, CP, Special Unit, FCID Alagbon; Mohammed Mu’azu Usman, CP, Eastern Ports, Port Harcourt; Festus Chinedu Oko, acting AIG, DLS Department, Force Headquarters; and Ronke Nurat Okunade, Special Fraud Unit, FCID Annex, Lagos.

In addition to the 12 new AIGs, 16 Deputy Commissioners were promoted to full Commissioners of Police, while 27 Assistant Commissioners moved up to the rank of Deputy Commissioner. These officers come from various administrative units, area commands, and training colleges.

The statement also noted that one Assistant Commissioner was absent during the promotion process and was therefore not considered.

Furthermore, the PSC approved the promotion of 145 Chief Superintendents to Assistant Commissioners. This group includes both General Duty officers and specialists from fields such as aviation, healthcare, laboratory science,and nursing.
