Punishment Awaits Corrupt People – Atiku Hints at 2027 Presidential Run

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has signaled a possible return to the presidential race in 2027, pledging to take a hard stance against corruption if elected.
Atiku, who is now a prominent figure in the newly formed opposition alliance aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the declaration during a public address delivered in Hausa. In a widely circulated video on X (formerly Twitter), he firmly promised to confront corruption head-on.
“I swear by God, anyone found guilty of stealing or corruption under my leadership will face serious consequences,” Atiku said, indicating that his administration would prioritize accountability and justice.
The former PDP presidential candidate, who contested the 2023 election, has not officially confirmed his defection to the ADC. However, he has emerged as one of the leading voices in the new coalition seeking to challenge the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Recently, the group named former Senate President David Mark as its Interim National Chairman and former Minister Rauf Aregbesola as Interim National Secretary—moves seen as strategic steps toward organizing for the next political cycle.
While Atiku’s full intentions remain to be formally announced, his remarks have added fuel to speculation about his future political ambitions and the growing strength of the opposition bloc.
