The Bauchi State Police have launched an investigation into the tragic death of a 24-year-old woman, allegedly murdered by her 50-year-old husband during a domestic conflict over food preparation for Ramadan.

In a statement, the police spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakili, confirmed that the incident occurred on March 1, 2025, around 11:30 pm in the Fadamam Mada area, near Government Girls College in Bauchi.

The accused, Alhaji Nuru Isah, a businessman from Bauchi Central Market, reportedly became involved in a heated argument with his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, concerning food ingredients and fruits intended for the breaking of their fast. The dispute quickly escalated, and Isah allegedly attacked Wasila with a cane, causing her to collapse and lose consciousness inside their home.

Wasila was rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The police have arrested the suspect and recovered the cane believed to be used in the assault as evidence. The victim’s body has been moved to the mortuary for an autopsy.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, assured the public that justice would be pursued in the case. He also emphasized the dangers of domestic violence and urged the community to foster respect and understanding in family relationships.

The police have called on the public to report any cases of domestic abuse, warning that such violence has serious legal consequences.
