Reason Man was Detained in Lagos Over Brother’s Death

Police Arrest

The Lagos State Police Command has detained a man in connection with the death of his 47-year-old younger brother.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s spokesperson, confirmed the detention to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday. According to Hundeyin, the incident was reported to the police on August 24 at around 6:40 a.m. by an unnamed informant.

The report states that on the evening of August 23, around 11:00 p.m., Ayodeji Busari from the Iba area in Lagos allegedly pushed his younger brother during an altercation. The victim, who had traveled from Port Harcourt to visit a friend in Lagos, fell and struck his head on the pavement.

The injured brother lost consciousness and was taken to Igando General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

Police have investigated the scene, taken photographs, and transported the body to Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for an autopsy. The case file and the suspect are set to be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti-Yaba for further investigation.
