Religion Crisis: See What CAN did to Pastor that Hired Soldiers to Beat Muslims for slaughtering rams in Oyo

Apostolic Church to Relocate After Attack on Muslim Family in Oyo

A branch of the Christ Apostolic Church in Iseyin has been penalized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Oyo State following violent attacks on a Muslim family.

In an interview with FIRST CLASS GISTS on Sunday, Apostle Sunday Ogundairo, the CAN chairman in Iseyin Local Government Area, confirmed that the Christian organization has been appealing to the Muslim leaders in the area.

He mentioned that the pastor involved has faced disciplinary action from CAN.

“I have been appealing to the Islamic scholars in Iseyinland to temper their anger. It is evident that the pastor was at fault. CAN in Iseyin has sanctioned the pastor and instructed him to find a new location for his church.

“This issue began last year, and we have managed to resolve previous incidents until the one that occurred on Sunday,” he explained.

Apostle Ogundairo assured that ongoing discussions with the Muslim community aim to restore peace.

A widely circulated video implicated the pastor and some members of the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Imuse, Iseyin, in the assault of Mr. Sulaimon AbdulAzeez and his two wives, who were in purdah.

The victims described how the pastor allegedly hired soldiers to attack them for slaughtering a ram near the church.

AbdulAzeez recounted that his heavily pregnant wife was brutally beaten and dragged to the church premises by the pastor, while his other wife’s head was smashed.

The attacks, which took place on Eid day, have been condemned by the Muslim Rights Council (MURIC), CAN, and other religious groups.

According to MURIC’s Executive Director, Prof. Isiaq Akintola, the conflict between the Muslim family and the church stemmed from complaints about noise pollution, a matter that had previously required the intervention of the king of Iseyin.
