See How 14 People Dead in Fatal Collision Between Bus and Tanker on Niger State Road

A devastating accident on the Lapai-Agaie-Bida Federal Highway claimed the lives of 14 passengers on Saturday, February 22, 2025. The collision occurred at 10:59 am between Kusobogi and Nami, involving a Toyota Hiace bus traveling from Minna to Agaie and a DAF tanker en route from Lagos to Kaduna.

The incident was confirmed by Kumar Tsukwam, the Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who stated that the crash was caused by excessive speeding and reckless overtaking.

According to the FRSC, the bus driver attempted to pass another vehicle at high speed but collided head-on with the tanker. The deadly crash resulted in the immediate death of 14 passengers, including five women, a male child, and eight men. Six other passengers, all males, were severely injured and were rushed to the General Hospital in Lapai for urgent treatment.

The bodies of the victims were taken to the morgue, while the injured passengers received medical attention. The FRSC commander urged all road users to follow traffic safety rules, avoid dangerous driving practices, and keep their vehicles in good condition to prevent such incidents in the future.
