See How Man was Killed While Trying to Stop Fight in Adamawa

Court

In Adamawa State, a man lost his life while attempting to intervene in a physical altercation. Markus Dali stepped in to separate two men, Barka Yama and Alex Tari, who were fighting, but tragically, he became the victim when Barka allegedly delivered a fatal blow.

All three individuals hail from the Sina Kwande community in the Michika Local Government Area. Following the incident, police arrested 32-year-old Barka and charged him with culpable homicide in Chief Magistrate Court I in Yola.

During the proceedings, prosecuting officer ASP Francis Audu detailed how Dali intervened on August 30, 2024. After being struck by Barka, Dali fell unconscious and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

After Barka pleaded guilty, the prosecution requested that he be held in a correctional facility while the case is referred to the Department of Public Prosecution for further legal guidance. Chief Magistrate Muhammed Njidda approved the request, ordering his remand.
